“3 Easy Ways To Use Technology To Boost Your Bridal Biz!”

Technology is only your business’ best friend when you know how to work it!
There are 3 simple, inexpensive or even free ways that technology can help or hurt your business in a big way, and it’s so very important that you get crystal clear on these right now. So let’s get right to it!

  1. Your Voicemail
Most businesses don’t realize that your voicemail actually says a lot about your business when people call. People learn a lot about your professionalism, the perception of the quality of service you provide, and if you’re “big-time” or “small potatoes”. What impression do you want to leave with brides or vendors when they call?

All voicemail is not created equal. First of all, if you’re using an answering machine, make sure that it’s crystal clear in it’s quality. If it sounds like you bought it in 1985, it’s time to upgrade. And when comparing, voicemail is always much more professional than a machine (there really is NO comparison). Plus, there’s a big difference in the two following voicemails:

“Hi, you’ve reached Natalie’s voicemail. I can’t wait to help you with your dream wedding. Leave me a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.”

“Thank you for calling Natalie Bradley Events. Please leave your name, number, email address and date of your wedding, and we will return your name as soon as possible. And, don’t forget to get your free report, “10 Simple Ways to Create Your Custom, Luxury wedding Without the Celebrity Price-Tag!” at Natalie Bradley dot com.”

Which sounds more professional to you? Which wedding planner would you be more likely to buy from?

  1. Your Email
Again, professionalism versus hobbyist comes across clearly in most emails. First and foremost, get a professional email address! Natalie@NatalieBradley.com is so much more professional than NatalieBradley@gmail.com (this isn’t my email, so please don’t email this person, ok?). Getting a professional email address is inexpensive and sometimes even free with certain types of web hosting. Easy enough.

And don’t ignore your email signature. It doesn’t have to include super fancy graphics, but it should contain your contact info and a marketing blurb. Here’s our email signature for Natalie Bradley Events that you can feel free to model…

  1. Your Cell Phone!!
I’m not a fan of using your cell phone for your work phone. If you’re doing it for expenses, I understand. But there are many options out there beyond your local phone company. One company we use provides our toll free number, but we can have it forwarded to any land line or cell phone to answer live if we want to. It’s so much more professional than having a standard Verizon cell phone message, it’s certainly more professional that having custom music instead of ringing, and it projects you as a much bigger company than a one woman or man show.

It’s also appalling to me how many wedding vendors will answer cell phones on the go, not prepared at all to speak to a new bride, much less prepared to use the close the sale system to book more brides. No wonder you aren’t closing brides. You seem haphazard and chaotic. Who wants that on her wedding day?

What is a good, free, wedding website?

I know the knot and the wedding channel, but are there others?
oops – I guess what I meant to say was – a good place that I can DESIGN a free website! Sorry about that!! :)

www.indiebride.com — the kvetch section is a message board, but there’s a ton of threads with advice, you can ask pretty much anything, vent about things, non-wedding related discussions. And the women on the board are pretty nice and fun (sometimes there are meltdowns into cattiness in some threads, but these are fairly rare).
