Wedding Band Drummer

Have you ever seen someone who was clearly at the wrong gig?
Years ago when goth band the Sisters Of Mercy had put out a couple of singles with a bit more of a rock sound / production I went to see them live. Of course 99% of the audience were dressed in black, with backcombed hair etc, 0.9% were wearing full wedding dresses (!), and 0.01 (ie the bloke in front me ) was an old school rock / metal fan! He was disgusted when he realised there was a drum machine instead of a drummer, looked disgruntled all the way through, kept muttering “I thought this was supposed to be rock music”, and only applauded two songs (More and Under The Gun).
Have you ever witnessed any similar “fishes out of water” at gigs?
@—— a very literal answer!
@thex – I don’t disagree but I don’t think this guy was expecting or enjoying his introduction to goth!
when i was 17 in ‘94, i saw Terrorvision, one of my first gigs, and i remember the crowd being mainly young… ie my age. during the support, Baby Chaos we stood near the front and i noticed a ‘mother’ firmly holding onto her daughter, who looked younger than me, as the crowd moved but didn’t quite go off. the ‘mother’ stood out a fair bit among all these rock kids but stood fast, we found it quite funny…
… then Terrorvision came on and everyone went ape… jumping around etc… i can’t remember what the first song was, but the poor woman had had the shock of her life when it erupted, the look on her face was priceless, and before even the first chorus she had scuttled off to the side leaving her daughter in the pit. it was hilarious and i”ve always remembered that for some reason
